A focused log for strength training.
SteadyGym is a strength-training planner and workout tracker for iOS and web browsers. It supports reusable routines, set-by-set logging, rest timers, scheduling, and progression targets.
For people who follow repeatable gym routines and want to know what they lifted last time and what to aim for next.
What SteadyGym supports
- Platforms
- Native iOS app and a browser app. There is no native Android app in this codebase.
- Workout planning
- Create editable routines, enter workouts as plain text, or generate a starting routine. Add workout schedules.
- During a session
- Record reps and weights, use timed sets and rest timers, group supersets, and distinguish warm-up, practice, and working sets.
- Progression
- Use configurable progression rules and review the reasons for your next targets. The suggested targets remain adjustable.
- Local iOS use
- Keep training data on the phone without connecting to a server. Local storage is not a backup.
- Browser offline behavior
- After signing in online, use previously cached data and queue supported edits until a connection returns. Uncached exercise images still require a connection.
- Self-hosting
- Docker Compose runs the browser app, API, and MCP endpoint together. SQLite is the small-installation default; a PostgreSQL configuration is also provided.
- Synchronization
- Connect the native iOS app to your reachable SteadyGym server to synchronize training with the browser app.
- Data export
- The server provides a JSON export for workouts, sessions, exercises, and settings. Keep a separate restorable database backup for a complete server recovery.
- Server responsibilities
- For a self-hosted installation, you maintain the server address, access, HTTPS, software updates, and backups.
